Digital Content Manager

Looking for an experienced Digital Content Manager with a passion for breaking and viral news and excellent editorial judgement to create, curate and publish online content. You will manage a small team of digital content producers and other members of the newsroom’s digital team. Seeking a dedicated, creative journalist who works fast under pressure. Must be able to write and edit AP-style news stories quickly and error free.

The successful candidate must be able to conceptualize and implement compelling digital stories that include multimedia elements such as live video, embedded video, social media posts, images and slideshows. The proven ability to create and adapt content for various platforms such as our websites, news apps, OTT and social media channels is a plus.

The ideal candidate will be adept at using complex content and scheduling systems, comfortable tracking large amounts of information and have a blend of editorial skills (copywriting, photo editing, SEO and social media best practices) and technical know-how as well as proven team management and team development skills. Prior experience as a website content producer is a must.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee day to day digital content production and posting for all Las Vegas Review-Journal digital properties, included but not limited to reviewjournal.com, mobile websites, OTT on all available platforms, social media, app alerts, email alerts.

  • Supervise daily digital news planning and breaking news strategy.

  • Lead special project work as assigned.

  • On-site management of all digital newsroom staff.

  • Creatively develop unique content for web, mobile and social media

  • Develop multi platform workflow that ensures strong, unique and digital-exclusive content as well as showcasing content created for Las Vegas Review-Journal and sister publications on reviewjournal.com

  • Perform a variety of website management and video encoding activities, including video players, playlists, widgets, templates and tools, and mobile apps

  • Work directly with third party vendors and provide them with technical specs and delivery requirements for digital content Understand and use metrics to maximize growth on all platforms Provide support with cross-departmental web training, including actual training and creation of supplemental materials and documents Gather, compile and write news stories for all digital platforms. Edit and post video content as required.

  • Create and send breaking news alerts

  • Work closely with producers to identify digital marketing for reviewjournal.com

  • Lead all support issues and submit internal tickets as projects require Builds special sections for websites and apps using content management systems

  • Maintains accuracy and integrity in news products delivered.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Mass Communications, Broadcast or marketing preferred

  • 10 years experience working in a fast-paced digital news environment preferred

  • Three years management experience preferred Programming, content creation & social media Demonstrate previous success in developing and implementing digital, app and social media content strategies

  • Demonstrated digital content management system experience

Advanced knowledge and experience using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other

  • social media platforms preferred

  • Knowledgeable in SEO best practices . Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office, WordPress, HTML, Final

  • Cut Pro, JW Player, LiveU, or similar platforms and tools. Ability to work in a team environment, sharing knowledge, projects, best practices, and experience. Meticulous attention to detail; planning, organizational and follow-through skills - individually and as part of a team.

  • Audience-centric mindset, using real-time web analytics software to inform coverage.

  • Proficiency with analytics tools including Google Analytics, Parse.ly, Crowd Tangle,

  • Facebook and Twitter. Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong grammar skills and top notch writing and editing skills Legal right to work in the US.
