The Houston Chronicle seeks a Managing Editor/Content to lead its newsgathering operations, including Local News, Business, Sports, Features and Photo/Multimedia. She/he must have a grasp of the operations of all newsroom departments, leading the decision-making on development of key stories and proper timing for their posting. She/he must set the tone for an aggressive newsroom that is hell-bent on capturing and maintaining an engaged digital audience, leading a process of breaking and exploiting the stories of the day and planning for significant enterprise. He/she will collaborate with the Managing Editor/Audience, reaching smart decisions on content that can resound digitally with the right push and touch and setting a new publishing rhythm focused on our newsletter schedule, not print deadlines. The Managing Editor/Content will play a key role in recruiting, will develop and lead regular and meaningful employee evaluations and take an interest in the development of all members of the content team. She/he will consult regularly with the Executive Editor on broader strategic and budget issues that involve the senior management team.
