Writer and Social Media Coordinator

The University of Maryland's College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences ( ) seeks a full-time writer and social media coordinator. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual with writing experience and a passion for social media. The ideal candidate has a native understanding of digital media with experience managing social media accounts across a wide range of platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter.
The candidate will write stories and profiles about faculty, staff, students, alumni, and events that will be published on the website, in the College's alumni magazine, and via social media. The candidate will ensure that the stories and profiles are informative, engaging, understandable and coordinated across the College units and the University.
The candidate will also manage the College's social media program. The candidate will work with College leadership to craft and execute a social media strategy that helps promote the College as a premier science institution, strengthen the College's social media presence, and increase engagement with key audiences. This includes setting social media content strategy; creating and posting content; managing the College's content calendar; and measuring the performance of social media content and campaigns. The candidate will manage posts and social media advertising campaigns, listen to and engage with social media conversations, and produce robust metrics reports that demonstrate reach and relevance.
The candidate will also assist the College with events, video projects, special projects and other duties as assigned. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, inspired and detail oriented; enjoys working collaboratively; has a strong interest in science; and can execute multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
Applicants must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field, and four (4) years of relevant professional experience.
