We are expanding our editorial team and will rely on you for your creativity, expertise, and leadership. In the Editorial Director position at Stand Together Communications, you will be responsible for creating compelling content for the Charles Koch Institute and the Charles Koch Foundation. You will internalize brand guidelines and will hold the content to the highest standards. Your unique ability to balance nuanced messaging with editorial needs will be essential to the quality of the content.

Our communications and marketing team is transforming our organization's content strategy-join us and help us communicate the ideas that will move our society toward one of mutual benefit, where people succeed by helping others improve their lives.

Your Responsibilities Include
  • Run the day-to-day operations of the organization's websites, including fielding pitches, generating ideas, collaborating with internal teams, line-editing stories from a team of internal and freelance writers, overseeing publishing, and recruiting new writing talent
  • Edit a variety of content, including articles, photo essays, and news posts
  • Conceive and assign the reporting of large-scale projects and manage moving parts
  • Collaborate with the other members of the Stand Together editorial leadership team on larger editorial strategy and lineups
  • Collaborate with communications directors and other stakeholders on editorial needs
  • Work with internal departments, including relationship managers and digital and video teams, to coordinate digital publishing efforts
  • Make sure that all editorial products reflect organizational voice and messaging
  • Apply SEO best practices at all times

Knowledge and Skills You Bring to the Organization
  • Passion for storytelling, particularly related to identifying bold, new approaches to solving our country's most pressing problems
  • Impeccable editing, writing, and headline-writing abilities
  • 5+ years of experience editing or writing in a journalism, corporate, or non-profit environment
  • Experience working on multi-media and/or interactive content types
  • Strong collaboration and leadership skill
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Comfortable with rapidly evolving environment

  • A Rolodex of writers who can pitch and execute complex stories
  • Degree in Journalism, English, History, Economics or similar

All candidates will be required to submit writing samples and complete an editing test.
